The End of Dutch Notes on “Going Dutch.”

I said I’d be back for 2×02, but unfortunately/thankfully, I will not be. The opening establishing shot of this week’s Going Dutch was, to my eyes, very obviously generated1It looks nothing like the base we’ve seen so far, many of the shapes of roads and buildings are complete nonsense, I don’t feel like I need to defend this. with the generative technology people insist on calling AI, and I don’t want to dignify anything that would stoop to that level in this, the Year of Luigi 2026, with any kind of attention.

So, this is the end of Dutch Notes on television’s worst so-called sitcom, Going Dutch. I could take it being extremely weird about my country, but I guess I draw the line at it actively shitting in my cereal.2It also all just plays so much worse a year into the second Trump term than it did in January to March of last year.

Part of the plot of this week’s episode is the Catherine Tate character runs for mayor — even a cursory glance at Wikipedia would’ve told you mayor is not an elected position in this country. Why is this farmers’ market on the base, instead of, you know, in town—

But I don’t care. I no longer have to, and no longer can. My new proposed solution for how to fix every problem this show has is to do to it what I’m doing to this column: Cancelling it.

I’m free, I’m free, I’m free, I say.
